HYDROSEEDING Hydroseeding involves mixing seed, a fibre mulch, some fertilizer, and perhaps a tacking agent together in a tank of water. This mixture is then sprayed through a large hose and nozzle and applied much like paint over the prepared seedbed. This is a very cost effective way to apply seed and is useful for hilly sites prone to erosion, and on windy sites where seed may be blown away. It is fast and effective on flat protected sites as well. With hydroseeding, the seed is mixed with water and is well-soaked by the time it is applied. The mulch holds the moisture around the seed, the taking agent holds the applied product in place, and the fertilizer kick-starts the seed and root growth. |
